West Ham United 1-2 Chelsea Diego Costa Goal

The scoreline is slightly deceptive. It makes the game look closer than it was. Chelsea were always comfortable and declared after going 2-0 up early in the second half. Eden Hazard and Diego Costa got the goals and next for the leaders is the visit of Manchester United in the FA Cup next Monday. West Ham were poor despite Manuel Lanzini’s late consolation. They stay 11th, behind Southampton on goal difference. Thanks for reading and emailing. Bye. A lot of Hammers fans have already left, and they miss a long punt forward from the keeper that looks for a brief tantalising moment like it might bounce kindly for West Ham. It doesn't, Chelsea hoof it clear and that is the end of the game. Chelsea under pressure now though! Snodgrass gets to the left and crosses, not cleared. Fonte tries the volley. Sadly, it's a centre half's effort. But Chelsea still don't clear. Ball crossed in again. Fonte, again (let someone else have a go mate?) gets a good leap and powers the header.... over the crossbar A corner delivered across, West Ham have the numbers at the front post but, slightly unluckily, Obiang's attempted header clear turns into a perfect flick on. Costa bundles the ball home with his knee and that's Goodnight Vienna for this match, and very probably the League as well.
