Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino both scored one and created another before Georginio Wijnaldum netted in stoppage time to help Liverpool to a crucial 3-1 win over Arsenal in the race for Champions League qualification. Senegal international Mane handed Firmino the opener on a plate with a superb low cross early on, before the Brazilian returned the favour late in the first half.

Still, despite some spells of possession and Wenger throwing everything at Liverpool by introducing Theo Walcott and Lucas Perez from the bench, it was the home side who came closest to scoring the next goal. Liverpool substitute Divock Origi hit the post with a header as Arsenal failed to defend a free-kick, and in the end it was the side from north London who were distinctly second best in every area. Liverpool had one more goal in the bag, hitting Arsenal on the break in stoppage time as a fine team move involving Adam Lallana and Origi was finished by Georginio Wijnaldum. Have no idea what Wenger was thinking with Giroud up top and no Sanchez. The only way to play vs Liverpool is to harass them as they harass you and we certainly cannot do that with Giroud in the lineup. Playing long ball to him against a team that knows something about defending is not going to work especially when we let them have the ball and only get it back deep in our territory. We needed to have the same kind of intensity to win the ball back once we lost it that Liverpool had if we were going to have a chance.
